EXIM Bank has been providing direct investment to the farmers for sustainable growth of the country. Since 2008-09, Bank has allocated separate target for Agricultural & Rural investment as per instruction of Bangladesh Bank. Mainly crops, fisheries & livestock are 3(three) core sectors for Agricultural and Rural investment. Moreover, agricultural support sectors, income generating & poverty alleviation in rural area also included in Agricultural and Rural investment. Agricultural & Rural investment provide us food security & employment opportunity which plays an important role to recognize Bangladesh as a developing country.

We have received “Letter of appreciation” signed by Honorable Governor of Bangladesh Bank for achieving Agri & Rural investment disbursement target in FY 2012-13 (120%), FY 2013-14 (123%) & FY 2014-15 (111%) i.e. previous three consecutive financial years.

Officers for Agricultural & Rural Investment:
EXIM bank has already appointed 26 educated unemployed youths as "Agricultural Field Associate" which directly promote to the Government Employment Creation Programme of unemployed youth. They are working in 20 branches such as: Ashuganj Branch, Ashulia Branch, Barishal Branch, Board Bazar Branch, Bogra Branch, Chhagalnaiya Branch, Faridpur Branch, Fenchugonj Branch, Gazipur Chowrasta Branch, Keranigonj Branch, Kushtia Branch, Laksham Branch, Mawna Chowrasta Branch, Mudafforgonj Branch, Naria Branch, Rajshahi Branch, Rangpur Branch, Savar Bazar Branch, Sonaimuri Branch, Thakur-Bazar SME/Agri Branch. Now they are promoted to Officer.

EXIM bank has introduced "Area Approach" concept for Mushroom, Flower and Honey & Bee cultivation at Savar area, Chili cultivation at Bogra area and Potato cultivation at Rangpur area through respective branches.

Shariah Based Agricultural & Rural Investment Mode:
Bai-Muajjal (Agriculture) in short BAIM(Agri): using for crops, fisheries, beef fattening, etc
Izara Bil Baia (Agriculture) in short IBB(Agri): using for purchasing Farm Machineries (Tractor, Power Tiller, etc), Dairy farm, Fish Hatchery, Fishing boat, etc.
Bai-Murabaha: using for Crops store in cold storage under pledge.
Unique features of Agricultural & Rural Investment:
03(Three) core sectors (i.e. crops, fisheries & livestock) get priority in Agricultural investment.
Target will be fixed up highest at 2.5% of net investment amount on 31st March of previous fiscal year.
Try to provide at least 60% in crops sector, at least 13% in fisheries & at least 15% in livestock sector from the total target.
Agri. & Rural investment profit /rent is mid rate 12.50% +1% =13.50% (From 13-05-2024) as per BRPD Circular No: 10, dated: 08/05/2024; which may be reframed from time to time by Bangladesh Bank.
Open Farmers’ Account at Tk.10.00 only & no excise duty will be deducted on debit /credit balance up to Tk.1.00 lac only.
Easy & Bengali written all Agricultural & Rural investment application forms.
Crops investment within 10 days after getting complete Crops application.
CIB enquiry does not require for crops investment up to Tk.2.50 lac only.
Disbursement according to “Area Approach” concept.
Sometimes open disbursement of Agricultural investment among farmers.
Providing Agricultural investment to genuine land less (own land below of 0.494 acres), small & marginal farmer (own land from 0.494 acres to 2.47 acres), sharecroppers (cultivating others land & own land area highest 1.00 acres), women, disable and freedom fighters.
Priority to provide investment in under developed area (i.e. Haor, River chor, Coastal area, etc.).
Provide investment in exceptional and un-tapped area of agriculture.
Provide investment for cultivating pulse, oilseed, spices, maize & salt (Import Substitute Crops) at 4% profit through our selected branches.
Providing large investment in Dairy farm, Beef fattening, Poultry, Fishery, Hatchery, Sea fishing boat/trawler.
Provide investment to farmers for crops storage & marketing, irrigation & farm machinery, solar home system & solar system, floating bed crops cultivation, combined agriculture farm, income generating rural activities.
Follow district wise Lead Bank system.
Under Lead Bank system Branch’s Manager must attain at DC Office for monthly meeting of local improvement.
Provide investment to Microfinance institution (MFI) under Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) licensed.
Provide at least 50% of Agri. & Rural investment target through own network.
Branch wise separate disbursement target & highest disbursement using own network.
Trained & experienced agricultural focal person in Branch.
Branch preserves clients & guarantors NID.
Preserve clients & guarantors mobile number for communication.
Online banking, SMS alert, ATM, Remittance etc. services are also available for farmers account.
Islamic shariah based investment modes: Bai-Murabaha, Bai-Muajjal (Agri), IBB(Agri).
Head Office level separate division, name IRMD-IV.
IRMD-IV team has formulated different agricultural investment Guidelines.
Providing information, training & technical support to farmers.
